The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames refused planning permission for a loft conversion comprising a hip-to-gable extension, two rear dormers, and three rooflights claiming they would be bulky and incongruous additions to the existing roofscape causing unacceptable harm to the character and appearance of the host dwelling and the surrounding area.

Cameron Jones Planning worked with the architect and homeowner to prepare a statement of case for the Planning Inspectorate. The Inspector agreed with our argument, concluding the scheme would not be out of place in the streetscene and not have a detrimental impact on the home. Appeal Win – Conversion of Grade II property from flats to single dwelling

After a protracted planning process, the Planning Inspectorate agreed with our case and allowed our appeal. Planning permission with listed building consent was granted for the return of a Grade II listed Georgian building from flats into one single family dwelling house. The refurbishment included the removal of out of character items and replacing with original/Georgian style items, fenestration, and the installation of solar panels. The Inspector concluded that the benefits of the proposal would outweigh the loss of housing stock.

Fiona helped us to get full approval for plans to carry out an extensive refurb of our conservation-area property, which included front, rear and side extensions.
